Hanzo
Hanzo belongs to a friend out in California. He looks like a California beach dog, doesn’t he?
Hanzo is painted in oil on an 11×14 canvas. I tried to emphasize the texture of his long fur while also paying close attention to his eyes so that he would connect with the viewer, as if to say, “Hey! Let’s go for a swim in the ocean!” Which he’d do if he could talk!
While I attempted to capture the laid back attitude of what I believe is the epitome of a California canine, who obviously won my heart. I also wanted to mezmerize the viewer into accidently trying to make meaningful contact with him.
